How to Prepare a Strong CV for Gulf Job Applications

Build a concise CV that makes your experience, trade skills, responsibilities and measurable achievements easy for recruiters to review.

Lead with the information recruiters need

Place your name, current role, contact details, location and a short professional summary near the top. The summary should state what you do, how much relevant experience you have and the type of role you are targeting.

  • Keep contact details current and professional.
  • Use a role-focused summary instead of a generic objective.
  • Make your strongest relevant experience visible on the first page.

Describe experience with evidence

For each job, show the employer, role, dates and main responsibilities. Add outcomes where possible, such as team size, equipment handled, targets achieved, projects completed or service volumes managed.

  • Use clear action verbs and short bullet points.
  • Prioritize duties that match the vacancy.
  • Avoid copying the same responsibilities under every employer.

Keep formatting simple and readable

Recruiters often review many CVs quickly. Use consistent headings, dates and spacing. Avoid heavy graphics that make important information harder to scan or extract.

  • Use a common document format such as PDF.
  • Keep fonts and heading styles consistent.
  • Name the file clearly, for example Firstname-Lastname-CV.pdf.

Match the CV to the vacancy

Update the summary, skills and experience emphasis for the role you are applying to. Never add experience you do not have; instead, highlight the closest genuine experience and transferable skills.
